Where can I buy Axel Grease?
I’m stubborn. I wanted to write my own blog software. Then I realized that I certainly could do so and it would be better than sliced bread, but it would never be as good as what’s already been done: Blogger, Wordpress, MySpace, etc. So I gave up. I’ve given up. I’m not going to create a content-management solution (CMS) for my own purposes. Let someone else reinvent the wheel. Hell, let someone else reinvent that spinning hubcap thing. I’ll just get both and put them together, and maybe spray some tire protectant on it. Home brewed tire protectant.
Now, this isn’t to say that I can’t invent the wheel. I’ve written web-based checkout applications for the last three companies I’ve been with. I’d show you examples, but each company is pretty much dead through no fault of my own. Company 1 was bought out and then dissolved. Company 2 was shut down locally and moved to Utah. And Company 3 dot-bombed a little over a week ago due to possible financial misconduct. Luckily, I had moved to Corporate Company 4 eight months ago and this place has no intention of going anywhere; it’s a juggernaut. And I work primarily on server-side code here.
Suffice to say I can code, I just don’t feel like I need to spend my days building a leather chair from scratch if someone else has already dropped a vibrating couch with 30 massage features on my doorstep.
Of course, it’s a cloth couch and I wanted leather. I’ve definately got some reupholstering ahead of me.
